Andrea Goldsmith is a pioneering researcher, educator, entrepreneur, and global leader whose groundbreaking work has helped shape the future of wireless communications. Her research in information theory, communication theory, and signal processing has contributed to technologies including adaptive modulation, MIMO, multi-user MIMO, and Wi-Fi. 
A longtime IEEE leader and advocate for diversity in technology, Goldsmith has also co-founded successful wireless technology companies. At the 2026 RCA Awards Banquet, she will be honored as the first woman to receive the prestigious Edwin E. Armstrong Award.
